Decent Korean spot in the heart of Chinatown! Out of the banchan, kimchi jigae, and kimchi pancake, I feel like I was certainly the most impressed by the kimchi pancake. The banchan was okay and the kimchi jigae had decent flavor but was a bit lacking in the meat (which isn’t a huge deal). They have some daily promotions that I might have to check out at some point. I will say the one major plus is you definitely get a ton of food for the amount you pay.
Atmosphere makes you feel cozy and welcome. Service is quick and accommodating. Food was very delicious and if you like kimchi order extra lol🙌🏼
We stumbled upon this Korean spot in Chinatown and I’m so glad we did! We visited on a Tuesday night and were seated right away. The staff was friendly, and they had a great Tuesday special which was half-off noodles. I got the chicken bulgogi, and my friends ordered two noodle dishes. The portions were generous, the flavors were excellent, and our total bill came out to only $45, such a great value for the amount of food we got. The cozy atmosphere reminded me of restaurants I visited while studying abroad in South Korea. Definitely planning to come back!
We had dinner at Ajum’s Apron in Chinatown with high expectations, but unfortunately the flavors didn’t quite deliver. The portions are generous and reasonably priced (around $20 per dish), which is definitely a plus. The banchan was good — well-seasoned and nicely portioned. The atmosphere is calm and relatively quiet, making it easy to have a conversation, and visually the place looks clean and pleasant. However, the main dishes were underwhelming. I ordered the Jjamppong (spicy seafood stew), and while the portion was large, the broth lacked depth and seasoning. The dominant flavor was crab, but overall it tasted watery and under-salted. I couldn’t finish it. My partner ordered Tteok Mandu Guk, and the sesame oil was visibly floating on top of the soup, overpowering the rest of the flavors. Instead of being balanced, it felt heavy and one-dimensional. One concerning detail: the water glass had an unpleasant smell, like it had been wiped with a damp, unclean cloth. I wasn’t able to drink it. I ended up ordering a beer instead, which was fine. Overall, while the portions and pricing are fair and the ambiance is nice, the lack of flavor was disappointing. I’d rate it a 3 out of 5 — possibly closer to a 2.5 based on taste alone.
This spot is one of the best places to enjoy authentic Korean food in Chicago Chinatown. The food was fantastic, full of rich flavors, and everything we ordered lived up to the “most popular” recommendations on the menu. It was my first time visiting, and the experience definitely exceeded expectations. The service was quick and efficient, and the ambiance added to the overall experience with a great atmosphere. It really feels like a hidden gem right in the heart of Chinatown. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious Korean food.
