The food was ok, portions could be better. I got the combo A+B and chose beef short ribs with tofu hot soup. The soup was alright, definitely on the smaller side compared to other Korean restaurants I've been to around Lougheed. The beef short ribs were also fairly small for the price. It was roughly $20-22 with taxes and tip. I don't know what it is with Korean food always being priced at a premium here in Vancouver but I would say it isn't that worth it. For example, you can get the same tasting beef short ribs with an unlimited amount at AYCE Richmond Ninkazu for under $25 during their late night special. Interior wise, seating was good and restaurant was clean. Service was also good. There was also plenty of parking despite how small the lot looks. Overall, it's an ok restaurant given the location and lack of Korean food competition in the area. But if you really want Korean food, I suggest making the trip to Lougheed or even Richmond and you'll have way more affordable selections.
Had a good lunch at Chosun! I ordered the Japchae ($22.95) for myself, it's more of a sharing/family-style portion, so I had lots of leftovers. Good chew to the sweet potato noodles, and the beef pieces were tender enough. The vegetables consisted of a lot of cabbage/onions. My friend had one of their lunch combo specials (no issues there). It's a good option to get a couple of different dishes (beef rib or pork rib, and a soup/noodle dish for $18.95). I would've loved to try their rice cakes but unfortunately there is no dish that includes it for non-spicy eaters. Traditional banchan was included - the bean sprout or soybean, and braised potatoes side dishes are always a favourite. Service was friendly, which included regular tea top ups, and it was never difficult to flag down a server for assistance. The one down side is being a BBQ restaurant, the smell lingers on your clothing (even when your table isn't using the grill). Beware! That being said, would recommend the restaurant. They have an extensive menu that even includes some sushi and sashimi options, and lots of Korean staple dishes.
Good meat selection, and the price was reasonable overall. Some items were slightly over-seasoned, but still enjoyable. The restaurant felt cozy and warm, with a nice atmosphere. The staff were friendly, a bit loud but very attentive and helpful. We ordered the three-person medium combo and it was very filling.
Lunch today was very good. Lots of people ordered BBQ sets but we bucked the trend and ordered 3 individual dishes. They were all good (my opinion as my companion didn't like the kimchi pancake's texture). Service was satisfactory how busy weekend lunch rushes get. Today was also Mother's day but I think they are any less busy usually. They have a free shared parking lot but I'd rather park the free residential street parking nearby. Makes for easy enter and exit the area as you can only exit southbound on Kingsway from the parking lot. I parked on Tyne, 2 blocks away on across from the Safeway parking lot. I had a pick of exit directions from there.
We loved having a dinner here. We ate an amazing - really delicious - korean miso soup, we absolutely recommend it. It was very rich, and flavourful. Then we chose the fried kimchi noodles - huge portion - which came with beef, and as I am vegetarian, the servers were so kind to notice that I didn’t like this meat version, so they remade it without beef. We also had a seafood pancake, which was super crispy on the outside and soft in the inside, full of flavours as well. We also had a soju (original Korean traditional drink). The appetisers - which we didn’t have to order - were a great variety of fermented veggies, all of them fresh and spicy. Overall it was a great experience, including the very best service, special thanks to Mmjeong Kong for her kindness. We will return and we will recommend this place to all of our friends.
