What locals say
“Based on my recent visit, I regret to say the experience fell short of expectations. While the staff were not overtly rude, their facial expressions and overall demeanor—particularly when responding to customer inquiries—came across as noticeably unwelcoming and somewhat dismissive. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere and did not reflect the level of hospitality one would reasonably expect. As for the food, there were several disappointing aspects. The potatoes and miso soup were underwhelming in taste, lacking any notable quality. More concerning was the meat, which appeared to be served still very cold, almost as if it had not fully thawed. This required waiting before it could even be properly consumed, which should not occur in a standard dining setting. Additionally, I took the time to speak with several other tables of acquaintances during my visit, and they unanimously shared the same sentiment—that they would not be returning. This further reinforces that the issues experienced were not isolated. Taking everything into account, both in terms of service and food quality, the overall experience was disappointing. I sincerely hope the establishment will take this feedback constructively and make the necessary improvements.
Wanted to have korean bbq and had the ayce A for $45 It was pork belly, pork steak, pork bulgogi. The sides were bean sprout, kimchi, Japchae, fried dumplings, Overall the food was good but I wish there were more choices and sides. The waitress was friendly and cleared our dishes quickly. I would go for AYCE B because it had more meat options. I would come back again
If you’re looking for that authentic, high-energy Korean BBQ experience on Robson Street, Dae Bak Bon Ga is the place. There is nothing better than the sound of high-quality meats sizzling on the grill while the table gets filled with all the banchan.
If you’re looking for truly authentic Korean food, Dae Bak Bon Ga is a must-visit. The dishes here taste just like homemade meals you’d find in Korea—rich, comforting, and full of authentic flavors. From the perfectly seasoned BBQ to the variety of traditional side dishes, everything feels carefully prepared and true to its roots. What really stands out is the quality of the ingredients and the attention to detail in every dish. The flavors are bold yet balanced, and you can tell they stay faithful to traditional recipes. The atmosphere also adds to the experience—warm, lively, and perfect for sharing a great meal with friends and family. Highly recommend Dae Bak Bon Ga to anyone craving genuine Korean cuisine. Definitely one of the best spots for authentic Korean food!
An ok quality AYCE bbq. The price seems lower than competitors but the menu is very limited and if you want more variety it ends up being similar as they add 18% to the bill automatically. Some items were sold out when I visited and the servers didn't inform anything. Some hot dishes were not hot at all. Had to follow up for a couple times and the servers just walked pass without asking anything. Definitely a decent place if you are around the area but if you drive, just go somewhere in Richmond.
