Highly recommend the latte with almond milk and black sesame syrup. It was creamy and nutty in the best way! I love when places don’t charge extra for alternative milks. They had good savory pastry options. Got the wild mushroom focaccia and the tteokbokki gochujang pastry. Probably not the best place to do work or come with a large group since there are only a few 2 person tables but it was a great spot to catch up with a friend. Will definitely come back for the latte and to try the other pastries

I've been disappointed by a lot of new bakeries but Daeji Doug Company lived up to the hype. Everything we tried, savory and sweet, was amazing! We were genuinely impressed. The blend of Korean flavors with more traditional pastries was creative and refreshing as well. Something truly unique. I recommend going with a friend to try an assortment of pastries, unless you can tackle them all on your own 😅

Have been wanting try this cafe for a while and glad I finally did!! I got Kiki Matcha with sesame syrup and then Kimchi Focaccia! Both were really great. The focaccia was fresh and is definitely large enough to share. The matcha was delicious and I will be for sure ordering it again!! Staff were both extremely kind and helpful with suggestions. While I was there I saw staff putting out more fresh made coconut croissants. Thank you :)

Incredible specialty coffee + Korean inspired laminated pastries! The tteokbokki croissant was a standout - buttery and flaky with chewy rice cake and a gentle spicy kick that worked surprisingly well. The sesame croissant was equally satisfying, nutty, and well layered. We also enjoyed the sesame latte and pie latte, both smooth and balanced without being overly sweet. A thoughtfully crafted bakery with lots of heart, and it’s wonderful to see an Asian-inspired pastry shop thriving.

Daeji Dough Company is mind blowing! One of Chicago’s newer specialty bakeries, this spot serves pastries with a Korean flair, and they are simply unbelievable. There is a good variety to choose from, so I had to get a lot to sample. The workers are all super friendly and helpful as well. They have a small bit of seating, which is nice if you want to sit down and enjoy your pastries right away. Perhaps their most famous creation, the tteokbokki croissant was heavenly. It is a texture dream with the soft, chewy rice cakes and the flaky croissant layers. I was surprised that they did not hold back on the spice in the gochujang glaze. The croissant contained seaweed flakes throughout, which added a nice salty earthiness. Their daeji chocolate chip cookie is one of the best in the city. It had the perfect chewiness with amazingly crispy edges. The texture was impeccable, which provided the basis for the unique flavor. Their cookie implements doenjang, which added so much umami and heartiness; this was balanced by lemon zest, which brightly cut through. It was also filled with the gooiest pools of chocolate. Just insane. You also need to try their miso cornbread cookie. It also had an incredible texture with just the right amount of crisp and chew. The corn flavor paired with the sweet miso honey glaze on top was so good. The butteriness of the cookie matched the salty miso flavor so well. The smoked brisket roll blew me away. It delivered a super interesting combination with a filling consisted of tender, Texas-style smoked brisket surrounded by a jalapeno raspberry gochu-jam. Their meat was soft and melted with flavor and was really enhanced by the jam. It was like the meat was tossed in a fruity, peppery barbecue sauce. The puff pastry pocket was golden and super flaky. I highly recommend trying the bulgogi mushroom focaccia. The focaccia itself is extremely light and fluffy with crispy edges. The marinated mushrooms on top were quite earthy and rich. A Korean staple, I had to try the salt bread. It was pretty tasty and sort of reminded me of an elevated dinner roll. The center was so soft and, of course, very buttery. The curry twist featured wonderful flakiness and was lined with Japanese curry sauce. The twist was reminiscent of a pretzel with a crunchy outer shell and big salt crystals. Finally, the coconut sesame croissant offered a satisfying flavor fusion. The lamination was ridiculous, and it held up well with both the coconut and white sesame paste filling and delicate cream topping. It was so nutty, bold, and not too sweet at all. Easily one of Chicago’s best bakeries, and the good news is that while still popular, you won’t encounter the absurd line lengths that any Chicago pastry lover knows all too well. Daeji Dough Company serves extraordinary goods that challenge conventional tastes. I’m excited to see how it evolves with time!
