What locals say
I tried the brûlée mille-feuille, and honestly it was delicious. The crisp pastry texture and balanced sweetness were great, though the amount of cream inside was too much for me to finish. This place clearly shows skill. They sell a wide variety of desserts, and if I visit again, I’d like to try some of the others.
A friend recommended this place to me and said “it was the best dessert he had in Japan”. It’s a cute little spot that looks like it came out of a French story book conveniently located right next to Osaka station. I got the crème brûlée custard pastry and it was really good. Nice, glassy crunch on the brûlée followed by flaky pastry and closed out with a nice, cool custard. It was nice that there wasn’t a line or wait for this place despite it being in such a high foot traffic area.
The Mog Champ sends his regards. The matcha pastry dessert here was so good. You could share one between two people as it can be quite filling on its own. It's a small place right underneath a building so the inside space is tight. However, there are plenty of seats around to sit outside with some other customers enjoying the same dessert. Thanks for the sweets, team! Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ
My friends and I tried out the brulee millefeuille. It was perfectly flaky and filled all the way with a light custard. Shared between the three of us as it was a bit bigger than we expected. We all enjoyed how the custard didn’t taste too sweet. Grenier offers butter cookies, madeleines, financiers, and other delicious baked goods that are boxed for gift giving. The space is small and cozy with warm lighting that makes it feel like a little escape from the city. Would recommend trying out their classic brûlée millefeuille or any of their other flavors as it all looked great.
There was already a line when I arrived, and I waited about 15 minutes to get my order. Totally worth it though! The shop itself has a whimsical, storybook charm with warm wood, cozy lighting, and quirky decor. It’s a small but charming space that’s easy to fall in love with. I tried the Custard Mille Feuille and it was genuinely delicious. The pastry was incredibly crispy and flaky, and the custard cream inside was smooth, velvety, and not overly sweet. Everything is made fresh daily, and you can really taste the quality in every bite. That said, it is quite a generous portion and started to feel a little heavy halfway through. I think it would be perfect as a sharing dessert, or if they offered a smaller size option, that would be a nice touch. It’s also worth noting that the mille feuille can be quite messy to eat, so having tissues on hand is a good idea! Pricewise, it sits around 1,200 yen which is on the pricier side for a pastry, but given the quality and the fact that it’s made fresh to order, it feels justified. Despite the price and the slightly heavy finish, I really enjoyed the experience and would definitely consider coming back to try other flavors. A truly special treat if you’re in the Umeda area!
