What locals say
This location felt a lot newer compared to the Chinatown branch, which was a nice change. The food was overall good—some dishes were a bit on the salty side for my taste, and the veggies could’ve been a bit fresher, but nothing that took away from the experience too much. For the price, it offers solid value. A bit more attention to cleanliness would make it even better. All in all, I had a good time and would come back again—maybe not super often, but definitely worth revisiting.
A great place for Friday night out with friends. You can grill and hotpot all at once. They have a great meat and vegetable selection and with the new set up you can grab as you like. Do not worry about your grill burning as staff are quick to help with the change.
Jiang Niu offers decent variety of meats and side dishes. The food quality is generally good, and the self-grilling setup is straightforward. The restaurant is clean, including clean restrooms, and the atmosphere is pleasant and enjoyable. There are many vegetarian options available, and it is also suitable for guests with non-halal restrictions. It is recommended not to arrive too late in the evening, as some ingredients may be limited or sold out. Overall, it is a solid option for casual group dining.
If you’re looking for a dining experience that feels like a choose-your-own-adventure game with minimal instructions, Jiang Niu BBQ House Lincoln Park offers exactly that. It's essentially the discounted, no-frills version of Korean BBQ, anchored by an all-you-can-eat pricing model that ensures you'll leave full, even if you spent the first fifteen minutes entirely confused. The ordering logistics require some mental agility. Some items are ordered via a tablet on the table, while for others, you simply walk up to a refrigerated section and grab the raw meat yourself. The service is genuinely friendly, which helps smooth things over even when you hit a bit of a communication barrier. When it comes to the actual cooking, the sauces are going to be your absolute best friends—use them heavily, because the meats themselves arrive aggressively under-seasoned. Pro tip: don't be shy about asking for a fresh, clean grill grate when yours inevitably turns into a charred wasteland, and pile up as many side plates as you can fit on the table. If you manage to pace yourself correctly, make sure to leave a little bit of room for the dessert—it’s included in the price, and at this point, you might as well get your money's worth.
Amazing BBQ experience! The meat was incredibly fresh, tender, and full of flavor. The marinated beef was rich and delicious, and the cuts had beautiful marbling. Everything tasted great once grilled, and the dipping sauces matched perfectly. The overall quality of the food was excellent, and the meal was very satisfying. Definitely a place I would come back to again!
