First time trying the steam buns and what a delight just delicious flavorful! Also tried the steamed shrimp dumplings which was great as well! Wish I lived close by would’ve been a weekly visit!
The takeout dumplings are especially incredible. They’re packed with filling, juicy, and full of flavor in every bite. You can really taste the quality and care that goes into making them. It’s the kind of place where you go in for one thing and leave with a bag full of goodies
Fabulous Korean market with a lot of products and also fresh fish, meats, fruits and vegetables. We at at the café and had sushi (from the display case nearby) and the #5 (cod soup) and #13 (noodles and veg in a seafood broth). The portions were large and everything was delicious and reasonably priced.
First off this place is awesome. It blows H Mart away on every department. It’s packed with everything you could need. Snacks galore, fresh veggies and meat. The prices are great also. I’m going back asap 😅
While the Korean presence in Chicago can feel lacking at times, Joong Boo is a reminder that authentic Korean can still be found in the city. They have all your classic Asian groceries, snacks, and a little food court with typical Korean cuisine. But the real reason I came here was for their famous dumplings. Right outside the storefront is a little station pumping out steaming hot dumplings. You have to try the massive Korean-style steamed buns; I got one with kimchi and pork and a red bean one as well. The bun is so soft, and it’s stuffed with delicious filling. Both were phenomenal and as good as you could find in Seoul. If you’re missing a taste of Korea, Joong Boo will remind you of home!
