OMI Cafe

Cute cafe in Lakeview with lots of seating! A great place to sit and work for a bit or chat. I got the special biscoff latte that was cute but tasted like a normal latte honestly. The service was quick and friendly so overall a great experience!

I have been a semi-regular customer at Omi since last fall, however they rarely open on time and are consistent in not opening when the posted hours say they will be open. It feels like the cafe is run as a hobby rather than a true business that values timeliness and high quality service.

They do matcha the traditional way. They bust out the chawan. Put the matcha powder and whisk awayyyy. You never see that anymore. There is also a Japanese Mahjong Riichi group that plays here every other Sunday at 2pm. It's awesome.

Atmosphere of the cafe is cute with varied seating. My issues came with the drinks that I ordered. Asked for a lavender matcha, but they told me they "haven't started a batch on lavender" yet. Then I asked for a strawberry flavor version instead, but they also haven't made that either. Ultimately, I ended with the "Apple Crisp" flavor for the tea, which tasted mostly like Apple Juice than tea. The matcha flavor was incredibly discreet and the tapioca boba was all clumped up together for the most part.

Lovely café with a clean and cozy atmosphere. It’s a great place to relax, catch up with friends, or just enjoy some quiet time. The matcha was absolutely delicious—one of the best I’ve had! The dessert and drinks were tasty, and the prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a chill spot with great quality and value.
