Sonamu Korean Restaurant ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5) A beautiful and well-curated Korean dining spot in Frankfurt, with a refined interior and great wine selection. The banchan were nicely presented, and the main dish was tasty and visually appealing. However, as someone who has been to Seoul, I felt the food was slightly “Germanized” – milder in flavor and adjusted to local tastes. It’s not entirely authentic, but still enjoyable for those looking for a more accessible version of Korean cuisine. Service was polite, the atmosphere warm and elegant. A great introduction to Korean food for newcomers – just don’t expect the bold, punchy flavors of Seoul.
The starters were quite decent but not the main course. My friends and I have ordered different options, vegetarian was good. My squid was extremely hot. The service was lovely though, a cozy terrace is an advantage.
This restaurant offers certain taste of Korean food but it’s not Korean food. The pancake is literally not pancake. The kimchi stew has the flavor but no kimchi rather cabbage… It is really not Korean food. Mr. Lee is the one to go or Ymart.
Walked by this place and it caught my attention right away, not only because it resembles a Korean-style spot, but also because of the amazing smell coming from the food. I finally had the chance to visit, and it absolutely met all my expectations. We ordered for two: the Big Kimchi Stew, which was delicious and full of flavor (ideal for the cold weather) ; Mandu; and Japchae noodles with duck and vegetables. Everything was great. I definitely recommend it. Price was also reasonable, we paid for food + two big water bottles 48 euros. The service was fantastic as well, they checked on us often and made sure we had everything we needed.
A little bit wierd combination of foods, not for everyone, can be hot, but worth trying, staff was great. 3 stars for food because its just not for me. :)
