Super Oriental / Super Kise, S.A. de C.V.

There are lots of oriental products here, mainly packaged, jarred or canned. I found my jasmine rice, of course, and a broad selection of plastic and ceramic dishes of both Chinese and Japanese design. I was disappointed that I couldn't find Sechuan peppers. Also that there were no carbon steel woks, most were stainless steel or coated with Teflon. Yuck. Otherwise lots of dried herbs and spices. I was excited the third time there to find lots of spices that are difficult to find in the regular supermarkets. And I could buy them in small quantities too.

If you need some obscure spice that you can't find anywhere, this is the place. If you're looking for fresh food or exotic Japanese items, you might just get lucky but it seemed to me like the only unique thing they carried was the spices. The customer service was poor and lines were long on a Saturday. They did have some sushi plates and a few other food items but they didn't really seem that tasty so I didn't buy any of them. Their pricing is on par with most oriental supermarkets so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it unless it's convenient for you to come here.

Awesome place with a lot of diferent oriental products for cooking oriental food or interesting stuff like candys, decorations, etc.

The security guard at the front was super helpful and friendly! They also had many of my favorite brands, like wei-chuan frozen wrappers and yan-yans.

Not a real Japanese supermarket. No frills and sad ambiance. Security guard haunts the halls bothering customers. No short grain Japanese rice available whatsoever. Staff will cluelessly point you to the mountains of American Calrose rice, which in this place counts as Japanese rice, I guess. No dashi, ajishio, sashimi, curries, vegetables, sukiyaki, tofu, mochi, soba, udon, or nabe. The only things "Japanese" are secluded in a small corner of a shelf: soy sauce and mirin, which you also can get in any ordinary supermarket in Mexico, and are again American imports. Come here if you desire cup ramen and other nonperishables like jasmine rice, seeds, nuts, South Asian spices, and sweet chili sauce. You have to do better.
