First time trying Korean Barbecue. It was amazing and delicious. The best part is that they cook for you. Gives a perfect experience. Extremely delicious.
In Shin-Okubo, Donchan stands out for its authentic Korean barbecue experience. The restaurant captures the essence of Korean flavors, offering deliciously marbled pork belly and tender pork shoulder, grilled to perfection. The vibrant atmosphere is enhanced by traditional side dishes like kimchi and pickled vegetables. Be sure to try the "lunch set," paired with their savory dipping sauces, or the popular Korean fried chicken for a true taste of Korea right in Tokyo. And price is so cheap as well.
I will say that the food was better than I expected. However, the wait staff was a little rude with the starring assl if they've never seen a foreigner before, which is confusing because some of them were foreign. I felt uncomfortable for most of the dinner. Again, the food was good. The service was lacking and rude. We had pork because that's the only meat they service, obviously. The fried rice was good as well as the seafood pancake. The kimchi was amazing as well as some of the stews. I forgot the exact one we had.
The food was just okay, my own personal opinion- I didn’t sense the spicy nature or feel anything, it was just plane and blend without the taste. It’s extremely different from what I have experienced in Authentic Korean restaurants. The price was expensive for no reason. Rip off Not in my list to visit again.
I visited this restaurant for lunch with a friend over the weekend. We arrived around 1 p.m. and were surprised at how empty the place was, with only one or two other groups dining inside. We ordered their famous samgyeopsal along with some cheesy spicy fried kimchi rice. The waiter cooked the meat right in front of us, and the experience was delightful! There was also a great variety of side dishes, which they happily refilled upon request. Depending on where you sit, hot oil from the samgyeopsal can splash a bit, so make sure to sit as far from the grill as possible and put on the paper bib they provide.
